Tarlov
Cyst
It was around January 2011 when I went to see my GP complaining of a back pain and the feeling of a lump on the right side of my lower back. After a quick visit the doctor said “Don’t worry dear, you have just pulled a muscle, take it easy for a little while…”
Tarlov cyst is a spinal nerve root lesion filled with spinal fluid, found most often at the lower levels of the spine. The Tarlov cyst is generally symptom less or it may cause a potentially serious neurological disease.
While not all sufferers will end up with symptomatic cysts, for the ones who do it is a painful condition as the cysts compress the nerve roots.
Symptoms that some people get from this disease are: pain in lower back, upper back, chest, neck, arms and hands.
Other problems include: headaches, urinary incontinence, blurred vision, dizziness,
sexual dysfunction, constipation.
